Journey to the USA for European citizens is now very easy. Before the first trip to the USA , anyone

who for the last two years who have not already been here before will need to register online for

an ESTA (see useful links). Completion of the registration process will take more than a few minutes

and of course, you need to have a biometric passport for which we recommend a minimum validity of one year.

 

On the plane you will need to fill out a customs form to take to the airport customs after entering the USA. So have on hand the address where you will be staying (4836, SW 29th Ave, FL 33914, Cape Coral, FL), number and date of issue of the passport and flight number. The form is filled by only one person for the whole family or a couple living in the same household.The actual controls at the USA borders today is nothing special and not worth writing about. Earlier, the border patrol used to be notorious for terrorizing tourists, but today after canceling visas, now the process is short and smooth. The villa is about a half hour drive from the airport in Fort Meyers (direct flight from Air Berlin to Dresden), or 2 and a half hours from the airport in Tampa and Fort Lauderdale, or three hours from Miami and Orlando airports. The selection of routes is endless, if you're interested, again, we would be happy to share our experience.

 

Traveling through Florida is quite an easy thing. Rent a car at one of the many companies based in the USA at every corner. In comparison with the rest of the world, the airports provide very cheap and easy to organize transportation here in Florida. The car is definitely a safer choice, but it is also cheaper to book in advance over the internet. Drivers must be at least 21 years old, but sometimes the age of 25 or older is required for insurance purposes. Traveling by car in Florida is quiet and comfortable. The rules and regulations make no special demands on the driver's ability and also traffic congestion in the urban agglomeration is also very smooth.

 

On the topic of what to bring to the villa, I would simply say as little as possible. The villa is equipped with towels of all sorts, linens, beach chairs, umbrellas, dishes, hair dryers, and many others comforts of home. Virtually everything you need to stay (cosmetics, food, pharmaceuticals, toiletries, and much more) may you buy in Publix, Walgreens, CVS etc within a few minutes driving distance from the villa. Therefore take special care for the things of a personal nature that is not normally acquired by conventional means such as prescription drugs, special cosmetics, clothing, etc.. Almost anything and everything can be bought in Florida from a large selection and often for a cheap price. The weather is very warm here and sometimes it rains. Outside the winter months it is almost always not necessary to wear gloves or long sleeves, long pants, jackets, and sweaters, so that should save you and the family a lot of space for packing. You only need casual wear for visits to any social events such as concerts, theaters. Fine dining in Florida, unlike the rest of the U.S., does not have a formal dress. Only nice clean, casual wear is necessary. Easy open and airy summer shoes are the most common element in Florida's wardrobe.

 

If you’re not sure if you should take something of importance, then definitely take it with you. If you do not have a universal travel charger, take your adapter to U.S. socket (110V 60Hz) or you can buy a U.S. adapter at the airport, and in any Travel situation, each person should have travel insurance in case of illness or injury.
